Central Vermont Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital licensed for 122 beds and offering a full spectrum of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care services, along with 24-hour physician staffed emergency care.

CVMC includes the following facilities and staff:

  • The National Life Cancer Treatment Center, featuring the latest in radiation therapy and treatment.

  • Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing, a beautiful facility on the CVMC campus that offers both long-term and short-term care to individuals needing nursing and rehabilitation services. Woodridge has 153 long term residence and short term rehab beds.

  • 18 Medical Group Practices, including primary and specialty care ranging from rheumatology to urology.

  • 1500 full- and part-time employees, which makes CVMC the largest employer in central Vermont.

  • A 133-member medical staff that is 100% board certified or board eligible.

The Hospital at CVMC features:

  • 41 medical/surgical beds, with large windows, many overlooking the mountains. A newly remodeled medical surgical wing offers 8 private rooms.

  • 19 rooms in the Women & Children’s Unit including those in the Birthing Center. Birthing women stay in their private room for labor, delivery and post partum care. 

  • An Ambulatory Care Unit with 5 Operating Rooms plus one major procedure room, 9 Recovery Room  (PACU) beds, 30 Admission/Discharge beds and 5 infusion chairs.

  • 14 beds in the ICU, known as the Davis Special Care Unit.

  • A 15 room Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. Ours is the only regional inpatient facility and offers a full range of treatment across a broad spectrum of adult psychiatric conditions. The Psychiatric Program also provides inhouse psychiatric consultation for patients on medical surgical floors and at Woodridge.

  • A newly renovated Emergency Department with 18 rooms.

Our Hospitalist Program

The hospitalists, our inpatient specialists, work with primary care physician/providers to manage patient hospital care. Hospitalists provide 24/7 coverage allowing the primary care provider to focus on giving optimal care in the office. Find out more.

Our Partnerships

National Life Cancer Treatment Center

This 15,000 square foot building for radiation therapy is attached to the hospital and to the building housing oncologists providing chemotherapy. Learn more.

A cooperative approach with Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC) provides a coordinated approach to the care of cancer patients.  

In addition:

  • The Renal Dialysis Unit at CVMC is operated by Fletcher Allen Health Care, Vermont’s Academic Medical Center.

  • The Sleep Lab at the hospital is operated by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, New Hampshire’s Academic Medical Center.  

  • The People’s Health & Wellness Clinic is a free clinic providing primary health care and wellness education to uninsured and under-insured central Vermonters who cannot otherwise afford these services. CVMC staff are among those who volunteer at the clinic.

  • Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, a not-for-profit Visiting Nurse Association that provides top notch care to our community and services within the hospital.

  • Washington County Mental Health Services provides comprehensive, community-based services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness; developmental disabilities, autism and mental retardation; children with severe emotional disturbances and their families; children and adults with acute behavioral problems and other  challenging behaviors.
