We are now accepting applications for our next cohort of our LPN Training Program, a collaboration between CVMC, Community College of Vermont, and Vermont Technical College.

If you are currently in a clinical role looking to further your education, or have been seeking the opportunity to move into hands-on patient care, we are excited to share this educational opportunity with you.

IMPORTANT: Please note that this is a two step application process. You must meet all of the application steps and requirements for both CCV and CVMC.

Once the application period closes, applications will be reviewed by CVMC, interviews will be conducted, then student selections will be announced.

Application Deadline: February 29, 2020

The LPN Training Program is open to CVMC employees and external candidates who meet the eligibility requirements below:

CVMC Employees

  • In good standing with no corrective actions above a counseling level
  • Currently working at least 72 scheduled hours per pay period (part-time/per diem employees are not eligible)

External Candidates

  • Must be hired and committed to an open position at Woodridge Rehabilitation & Nursing by February 29, 2020 (minimum 72 scheduled hours per pay period)
  • Must hold (or be eligible for) a high school diploma/GED by July 1, 2020
  • Must commit to an LPN position at Woodridge Rehabilitation & Nursing upon successful completion of program in spring 2022.

Most participants will follow the program phases below, depending upon past educational experience.

Phase One: CCV Pre-Requisites

Fall 2020

  • Intro to Human Growth
  • Anatomy & Physiology I

Spring 2021

  • Intro to Nutrition
  • Anatomy & Physiology II
  • Application to VTC

Phase Two: VTC Courses & Clinical

Fall 2021 (15 weeks)

  • Principles & Practices of Nursing I
  • Principles & Practices of Nursing I Lab/Clinical
  • The Nurse-Client Relationship

Winter (15 weeks)

  • Principles & Practices of Nursing II
  • Principles & Practices of Nursing II Lab/Clinical
  • Pharmacology

Spring 2022 (9 weeks)

  • Principles & Practices of Nursing III
  • Principles & Practices of Nursing III Lab/Clinical


Upon successful completion of the LPN Training program, candidates may expect placement at one of the following CVMC locations:

  • Woodridge Rehabilitation & Nursing
  • Acute Care
    • Medical-Surgical Unit
    • Intensive Care Unit
    • Perioperative Services
  • Medical Group Practices

  2. Schedule Accuplacer Skills Assessments
    • Call Susan Strachan at CCV Montpelier: 802-828-4060 (Identify as "CVMC LPN Program")
  3. Submit FERPA release form
  4. Send official transcripts of any non-VSC college course work to CCV:
  5. Meet with Conner Gilbert, CCV Financial Aid Counselor

Application Deadline – February 29, 2020

Complete and submit the CVMC application form below no later than February 29, 2020.

Please have ready the following items to upload with your application:

  • Cover letter and résumé
  • CVMC employees: Two letters of reference from current department supervisors
  • External candidates: Two letters of reference from current employer/manager, teacher, or other professional mentor
  • CCV Accuplacer scores
