“I have grown immensely because of this place. They want to help you, they want you to further your education, whether it is to be an LPN, an RN or someday a director of nursing. They support that and they want to give you the tools to get you there.” ~ MELISSA BOLDUC, LPN, Woodridge Rehabilitation & Nursing

Nurses feel safe and supported at CVMC

From great patient ratios, to the team culture, to robust benefits package, CVMC cares about the well-being of our nurses and patients.

Safe Patient Handling

We've made a significant investment in safe patient handling and mobility equipment in order to reduce staff injuries and improve how we care for our patients. This includes equipment that helps patients walk and weight bear, move in bed as well as lift and transfer. All patients’ mobility status is assessed on a regular basis at the medical center and at Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing to ensure appropriate equipment is utilized.

Nurses truly have a voice at CVMC

Shared governance and patient and family-centered care are two important programs at CVMC that give our employees a voice and give nurses the opportunity to become the kind of nurses that they trained to be.

Shared Governance

CVMC and Woodridge Nursing & Rehabilitation use a Shared Governance model to make decisions about nursing practice, use of technology, quality of care, and operations. The model is a collaborative process involving all departments of the medical center with a focus on nursing as the core of the care delivery process. The goal is to ensure the voice of nursing in their own practice and the decisions made that affect nursing process is heard through the unit-based and hospital-wide councils.

Patient- and Family-Centered Care

PFCC is about partnering with our patients and their families to provide exceptional care through transparency and shared decision making. Our patients and their families have valuable insights that can improve the delivery, quality and safety of the care we provide. Through this partnership we will achieve the best possible outcomes. Educational Workshops for staff: We’ve implemented PFCC education for staff and have adopted a service excellence program in early 2019 titled Communicate with H.E.A.R.T® to support our organization’s change in culture.

"Providing compassionate care to my patients during a vulnerable time is what I enjoy most. Working at CVMC gives me the opportunity to give back to the community I grew up in, which is a rewarding feeling." ~ BETH LYTLE, RN, Ambulatory Care
